| For many the highlights of an air display are the fast jets and Farnborough International 2006 was no different. We were treated to excellent displays from a Tornado IDS by Alenia, the SAAB Gripen and the always agile F16 Fighting Falcon, plus the first sight of a fully 'tooled up' Eurofighter Typhoon. As for the most exciting displays, this was a hard fought contest between the FA18 Super Hornet, fresh from its the Royal Internationa Air Tattoo at Fairford the previous weekend and the amazing antics of the MIG29OVT with full thrust-vectoring. This aircraft went through manoeuvres which shouldn't be possible but which totally amazed the watching crowds. Many of the demonstrations were flown with the benefit of smoke, creating wonderful smoke trails in the beautiful still summer air aginst a backdrop of a stunning blue sky. |
